    Brad Collis

Brad Collis is a Melbourne-based journalist, writer and editor. He was a senior writer with the Melbourne Age, business editor of The West Australian, and has had an extensive international freelance career as a science writer, journalist and photo-journalist. He was the founding director of the science communications consultancy, Coretext, and is author of two acclaimed histories: ‘Snowy The Making of Modern Australia (Hodder and Stoughton, 1990) and the history of the CSIRO, ‘Fields of Discovery’ (Allen & Unwin, 2000). His novel, The Soul Stone was first published by Hodder & Stoughton's Sceptre imprint in 1993 and now published independently. A new novel in 2025, The Cutters, has also been published independently through Amazon KDP.

His passion for history is rooted in his fascination and observations when people struggle firstly to understand and then survive sweeping events that are history in the making.

In his spare time Brad is a keen nature photographer, guitarist and beekeeper.
